Roles

In a fully developed data ecosystem, several key roles typically exist: Data Creators and Data Demanders. Data creators collect, organize, and process raw data from sources, transforming it into higher-value, application-ready data products. This process often requires a suite of tools to enable efficient data production, such as processing tools, data marketplace platforms, and financial incentive mechanisms.

  • Data Demander: Also known as the data consumer, this role holds the right to use collected data upon authorization. Common examples include DeSci Projects, Vertical AI Agents and AML dApps.

  • Data Creator: This category encompasses both Suppliers and Validators, the primary contributors to the data ecosystem:

    • Data Supplier: Individuals who provide data and hold its ownership and usage rights. Whether supplying annotated datasets for a Frontier or sharing personal data, the ownership distribution is determined by the demander's pre-defined mechanism. Data Demanders must disclose the profit-sharing arrangement beforehand.

    • Data Validator: Individuals responsible for auditing the quality of submitted data. They contribute to ensuring data integrity and are rewarded by the platform or Frontier for their quality maintenance efforts. However, Validators do not possess ownership or usage rights over the data they evaluate.
